Sinfonia of London at Snape Maltings

A stunning concert by Sinfonia of London with John Wilson conducting. Delighted to hear some superb, and stylish string playing from all sections. The solo viola in the Vaughan-Williams was the best I have heard.

Of particular note were the trombone section ….. their sonority, the accuracy of playing, and stunning musicianship made their contributions some of the best I have ever heard in an orchestra. Bravo! The first horn player was absolutely on song, and the woodwind were incredibly good. I must admit to being a little worried before the concert started ……. I have never heard such a horrible row whilst they were “warming up”!

John Wilson, whom I have begun to follow through his recent large-scale recordings, was excellent, and the choice of music was incredibly refreshing. The orchestra played the symphony as though it had been written especially for them. Thank you so much for a wonderful concert.

P.S. It was lovely to see our friend from Halifax Elsa Bradley playing in the percussion section.
